NVISION 2008 compo rules

Generic compo rules for both compos

  • The organizers reserve the right to remove entries from competitions. These entries won't be shown, won't be spread and won't be eligible to be voted for.
  • Previously released material is not allowed. Covers, remixes and derivative works can only be entered with the consent of the original author. That includes Rob is Jarig!
  • By entering, you agree on having your works to be distributed on various websites and FTP spaces (including, but not limited to Scene.org, the NVISION and NVScene websites), as well as an after-event press kit. (Always with proper crediting, of course.)

Generic technical rules for both compos

  • The compo entry must be packed together with either ZIP or RAR. For every entry we'd like to ask for a FILE_ID.DIZ in the archive, containing the prod's name and author, optionally the compo and party. This isn't mandatory, but makes handling easier. (Note: Traditionally FILE_ID.DIZ's are 40 characters wide at most.)
  • The demos must quit on ESC immediately.
  • The demos must not write to any of the drives permanently.

Demo compo rules

  • The maximum compressed size is 64 megabytes.
  • The maximum runtime of the demo is 10 minutes.
  • IMPORTANT RULE: The demo must support the resolution 1920 x 1080. This is the only rule you might find new, so please pay attention.
  • It's recommended to feature a setup dialog to set resolution and aspect ratio.

4k compo rules

  • The intro must be a single executable, 4096 bytes or less.
  • The maximum runtime of the demo is 5 minutes.
  • Importing by ordinal is forbidden. It is highly recommended to use Crinkler for best compatibility.
  • Multiple versions of the intro supporting various resolutions is permitted, but at least one of them has to run in widescreen, preferably 1920 x 1080, which is the version that will get shown.
