Compos
----
General compo rules
- The organizers reserve the right to remove entries from competitions. These entries won't be shown, won't be spread and won't be votable. In individual competitions this usually means preselection to avoid a huge amount of entries to be presented, in other competitions it solely means quality control and eventual compatibility problems. If your entry doesn't run on the compo machine, we'll do our best to help you to get it running though.
- Previously released material is not allowed. Covers, remixes and derivative works can only be entered with the consent of the original author.
- The work must be your copyright in its entirety. If your work contains material that is someone else's copyright, you must have an explicit written permission for its use. NVScene is in no way responsible for the author's use of any copyrighted material, which is the explicit responsibility of the author of the work.
- For every entry we'd like to ask for a FILE_ID.DIZ (if the platform allows so), containing the prod's name and author, optionally the compo and party. (Note: Traditionally FILE_ID.DIZ's are 40 characters wide at most.)
- The compo entry must be packed together with either ZIP or RAR (or the best packer on that given platform). We will not accept unpacked entries, and we will not pack your entry for you.
- For PC compos, the latest DirectX end-user runtime will be installed on the compo machine.
- By entering, you also agree on having your works uploaded to our website after the party and to various larger demoscene FTP servers (scene.org)
----
Remote contribution rules
We accept remote entries, of course! Here's what you need to know:
- The deadline for the remote entries is the same as for the other compos - refer to the schedule for more information.
- Send your entries to us through our contact form. This means you will not be able to attach files, so you have to upload your entries to the web.
- For remote contributions, providing a FILE_ID.DIZ is mandatory.
----
PC demo compo
- Playing time: 10 minutes. We'll stop it afterwards.
- The entries may run from a browser - in that case we will use the latest version of Chrome.
- Entries must quit on ESC.
- No upper file size limit, but please be reasonable and try to stay under 128MB.
- The entry must not write on the hard drive permanently.
- The entry will be run on the following configuration: Core I7 3770K 3.5Ghz (3.9Ghz Turbo), GTX TITAN, 16GB RAM, Windows 7 64bit
----
Android demo compo
- Playing time: 10 minutes. We'll stop it afterwards.
- Entries must quit on pressing the Back button.
- Maximum size: 64 megabytes archived
- The entry must be shipped in self-contained APK format.
- The entry must not write on the device permanently.
- The entry will be run on an NVIDIA Shield with the latest firmware. At the time of writing, this means Android 4.3 Jelly Bean - you can keep track of the firmware updates here.
----
4k procedural graphics compo
- The entry must be one single file, not larger than 4096 bytes.
- The entry must not write on the hard drive permanently; CAB-dropping is allowed, but we'd recommend the use of Crinkler. If you DO use CAB dropping, we'd recommend you to avoid compatibility issues, like ordinal importing.
- Please provide at least one version that runs in 1920*1080 resolution. You may attach versions that render in other resolutions as well.
- You can include a safe mode EXE in the archive, but if the compressed version of the intro doesn't run, we won't show the larger version. This also goes for a rendered bitmap version of the image - if it's there in the ZIP, great, but we'll show the original, executable version regardless.
- No animations allowed. Loading bars are okay, as long as they are immediately followed by the final picture.
- The entry may precalculate for a minute at most. If it doesn't finish in a minute, we will not show a rendered image.
- While it's not a rule, the graphic needn't necessarily be the same each time it's run - in fact, small changes in the colors or camera setting might emphasize on the procedural aspect of the picture.
- The entry will be run on the following configuration: Core I7 3770K 3.5Ghz (3.9Ghz Turbo), GTX TITAN, 16GB RAM, Windows 7 64bit
